A Doily Garland

This project all started with me looking for ways to use the beautiful crocheted doilies that my grandma gave David and I as a wedding gift over 14 years ago...

It just seemed sad that they are tucked away; kept safe, but not used.

Then I saw this amazing picture while visiting Jami at Freckled Laundry:

Absolutely. Beautiful.

She found these gorgeous lace doilies, trims and such at a garage sale recently!

If she weren't so darn nice, I'd probably be a little envious.

Okay, well, I'm still a wee bit envious...

;)

But seriously, this really got me thinking. Envisioning a sweet garland of white doilies...

I couldn't get the idea out of my head. There was nothing to be done except try it out. To see if would work.

I added a few doilies I tea-dyed for a little contrast...

but don't worry~ I only dyed the ones that were already either stained or not from my grandma. :)

{It's funny though, I honestly like it best with just the white doilies.}

This little garland will eventually be moved to a different fireplace in a different room, because if all goes well, I will be "slipcovering" this fireplace before Thanksgiving!

AND cleaning the inside of the fireplace as well. As you can see, it's greatly in need of a complete scrubbing.

I have some other ideas for how to use doilies, and will be sharing these in future posts! :)

I hope you all are having a great week, and enjoying these wonderful fall days!

blessings,

Jenni

LOVE this, Jenni! What a clever way to use your doilies. Now I'm envious. It looks so beautiful. I love sentimental so this project is my cup of tea. You have two fireplaces, too? I swear, we are birds of a feather. You should link this and your linen wreath up to my "air your laundry friday" party.

Hugs to you,
Jami

I like the all white too! It's beautiful!

Hope you are enjoying the couple of days of sunshine we are gettting before the rain!

Tell Belle I got that water drop leaf picture on my blog by using the macro button on my camera...I was just walking by and the water drops on the leaf caught my eye (though my husband said "most" people never would have seen it) I'm sure Belle would though!

Have a wonderful day girls!

Love,
Me

My mantel is BLANK right now! Ugh. Love what you did here. I'm hoping the right things will just appear for me to complete and decorate my mantel. :) Have a great day...

Very neat idea! I have never seen something like that before and would never have thought of something like that. I like the white ones myself.
