Now that fall is here...

I am glad that it is!

A month ago, when the kids started school, I didn't feel ready for fall at all!

But what a difference a month can make! And have you seen this?

This is the cover of the latest edition of Cottages and Bungalows. I am truly loving this magazine lately! And I am drooling over the cover picture here!

This is it, folks...this is exactly how I want my front porch to look this fall! ;)

But whether or not it does end up looking anything like this or not, it has definitely inspired me to "think fall"...before it's gone!

SO... I planted some mums in a pot out front...

And I also bought a pie pumpkin...these make the best ever pies!

And when I saw this bouquet of flowers while shopping at the grocery store, of course I had to bring them home with me! :)

I like to buy flowers on a regular basis for our dining room or kitchen, depending. Nothing outrageously expensive, often a simple bouquet of tulips. But this helps me through the often rainy, a bit dreary, winter months here!

{There are all sorts of tips for how to extend the life of your cut flowers, but I have found the best thing is just changing the water daily. They included this packet of additives, but I didn't end up using it! I just like keeping it simple, I guess!}

And as far as fall is concerned, I only have about 1,000,000 crafts I want to do, but will probably have to settle for a few of my favorites! I have several things up my sleeve to show you in the next few weeks, some of which are fall related, others not. :)

I hope you have a wonderful, blessed night! Thank you so much for visiting!

I got into the fall mood yesterday and ended up changing out my spring/summer clothes for my fall/winter clothes, started burning a spiced cider candle AND made 3 pumpkin pies. Today and for the next few days, it is going to be in the 80s again here in NC. Imagine that! but Happy Fall!

Hi Jenni, I have never seen that magazine before. I love the porch display of pumpkins, I absolutely adore pumpkins, any size, shape and color!

I have done some fall decorating, mostly indoors. The rest of the decorations are still in the boxes and taking up space in our little living room. lol.

I love fresh cut flowers, but we rarely get any. I usually use the packet of additives or 7up. Changing the water daily sounds like a no brainer, why didn't I think of that?! Great tip!

Hi Jenni,

I haven't seen that magazine YET!

AND I have never made a pie out of an actual pumpkin-Maybe you could show us how?

As far as the additives to the flowers I agree with you, skip them, just change the water often and cut the stems when you get them home. (This coming from me, who just happened to own a floral shop) :)

Jennie, I have seen the magazine...I was going to buy it but then set it back down to buy 2 others. I looked through it at the book store while enjoying a little something sweet with my daughter.

I too love the front porch! I would do just that if I had that porch as well!
I am still looking for white pumpkins, they are just not around here at as many stores as last year!
Well on the hunt and if I do not find them I will just go a different direction :)

see you soon girl!

The cover caught my eye while at Barnes & Nobles last week so I looked at it there. Love that pile of pumpkins!

I'm gearing up to process the pumpkins I grew this summer. I've never done it before so it should be interesting :)

I haven't heard of that magazine! Love the look of the front porch! I'd love to do something like that too. We potted some mums also and placed them down our front steps opposite the pumpkins. Maybe as the years go on I'll add more. I'd like to do something this year for Thanksgiving. We never decorate for Thanksgiving!

Jenni,

I bought that magazine when I was killing time at CVS last weekend and it was the first one I have bought in a really long time. I'm not going to lie, though. I loved the cover but after I read the magazine I realized that there was only ONE page inside that I actually wanted to keep. I hate paying six bucks for a magazine and only liking one thing inside it. That's why I'm completely addicted to blogging now, it's like digital magazines, and it doesn't cost a dime!

Sorry I'm ranting. I miss Country Home and Cottage Living. Boo to this economy that drove my fave mags out of business.
